5 Minute Kleenex Holder Sewing Project Perfect for Stocking Stuffers & Fall Colds

Sew Creative's 5 minute tissue holder sewing project would make a great teacher gift, stocking stuffer or handmade gift idea. A great fabric scrap project for cold & flu season.  2 weeks ago I was hanging out in Salt Lake City at the incredibly inspiring SNAP conference. I met so many incredible people and companies there. One of my favorite parts of SNAP was getting to try out the Baby Lock sewing machines in the Sewing Room. I made a couple of really fun projects in the sewing room and it was great chatting with other bloggers while we worked on a common project.

In one of my sewing classes they talked about how fabulous Baby Lock sergers are. I knew right away that I had to pop by Baby Lock’s booth and give it a try. At the booth I met Mike from My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shop. Mike was fabulous and sat me right down at a serger and taught me all about it. If I ever buy a serger, Baby Lock is the way I’m going to go. Mike explained that the machine I was using had automatic tension control and Jet Air threading. Threading and tension are two things that i’ve heard horror stories about when people chat about their sergers so I definitely think this is the machine for me.

Mike let me test the machine out by making a Kleenex Holder. It was a fast and easy project, made even easier using a serger. Unfortunately I don’t yet have a serger at home, so I thought I’d share with you how you can make a 5 Minute Kleenex Holder using a regular sewing machine.

This Kleenex Holder is also great for fall colds and would make a great stocking stuffer or teacher’s gift. I make sure that the kids and I always have one in our jacket pockets.

5 Minute Kleenex Holder Sewing Project

5 Minute Kleenex Holder Sewing Tutorial 1 Step 1- Cut 5 pieces of fabric 4.5″X 6.5″

5 Minute Kleenex Holder Sewing Tutorial 2 Step 2- Fold and press 2 of your pieces of fabric length-wise (print facing out), two of your pieces of fabric width-wise (print facing out) and leave your 5th piece flat.

5 Minute Kleenex Holder Sewing Tutorial 3 Step 3. Lay your piece of fabric that you didn’t fold in half face side up on your table. Lay your four folded pieces out on top of the flat piece like you are closing a box. (Long piece, short piece, long piece, short piece. See pictures above and below). The raw edge of your folded fabric should be lined up with the raw edge of your flat fabric on all 4 sides. (AKA the folded edge of your fabric should be facing the middle on all 4 pieces.)
