Earlier today I shared my Let Your Dreams Soar Hot Air Balloon Laptop Decal that I made for the Cricut Design Star Challenge. I created that project because it spoke to my heart. I thought that I would share a second project that I whipped up on my Cricut Explore… because I just can’t stop using the thing!!! It is SO MUCH FUN!!!

Our theme from Cricut was Fashion and Gear. Our theme for Team Lucky 13 was Gold Is The New Black. When I think of the theme it makes me think of making something that you love but might be the first adopter of… the “It Thing”.

My daugher, Bean is OBSESSED with bugs. When she first started her obsession her friends and the neighborhood kids were kind of freaked out “Ewwww!!!! Bugs!!!!” Bean with her bug facts and her genuine love for all creatures great and small ended up sharing her passion with her friends and now they all hunt for bugs together.

Bean's Animal Birthday Party

Bean’s 6th Birthday was over the weekend. She had a “critter guy” come to her party and bring animals with him from tarantula, to water dragon to hedgehog Bean wanted to hold them all. Some of her friends that were freaked out at first ended up coming around when they saw how comfortable Bean was around the animals.

Personalized Bug Catchers perfect for a Bug Themed Birthday

The party favors for the birthday were these personalized bug catchers that I made on my Cricut Explore

Today I decided to whip up a blinged out bug catcher for my girl for her back to school present. She’s the girl who has made bugs cool, so she deserves some blinged out bug catching gear!

Glittery Gold Blinged Out Bug Catcher

My first challenge project was comprised of images that I drew myself and uploaded to Cricut. This project is made using all Cricut Design Space components.  The font is Don Juan and I found a cute ladybug and spider in their image database.

  2. OMG! When I was a little kid I was ALL about catching bugs. I would have loved this! So fun.

    1. Hi Tiffany,

I was exactly the same way. Bugs, tree frogs, tadpoles, snakes… Bean definitely gets her love of critters from mama. 🙂

      Thank you for visiting!

    1. Hi Heather,

Do you have a Cricut Explore? They are so easy to use. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos before it arrived and felt like a pro once I got my hands on it. It’s been so much fun being a part of the Cricut Design Space Star Challenge.

      Thank you for visiting!

  3. Oh, mine is into bugs like crazy too – and reptiles and small furry things. You know… I’ll have to show him your bug container – that’s cool! I don’t have a Cricut, I’m the last blogger on earth that doesn’t have one but one day though!

    1. Hi Heather,

I’m sure you could make something very similar without a Cricut. You could trace the word “Bugs” (or his name) on vinyl and then cut with scissors. It might take a bit longer but the effect would be the same. 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting!

  4. You had me at glitter and gold!! This is so creative and adorable!
